Rachel Leonard College Bound!!!
West Coast Soccer is proud to announce its first scholarship athlete, Rachel Leonard verbally committed to Sacramento State University. “I am very excited about going to Sac State; I really see myself there and have been thinking about it a lot. With getting a scholarship, having my major and being a D1 school with a fun & challenging conference plus not being too far from home Sacramento State just seems like a perfect fit” says Rachel Leonard. Rachel also was quick to thank Troy Dayak for his guidance and support, “Coach Troy has helped me become the player that I am today I truly appreciate all that he has done for not only me but for our team and soccer in general.” Coach Troy and Katie Poynter (West Coast Recruiting Director) helped me find a great school like Sac State to continue my soccer career while earning a college degree. West Coast worked very at hard promoting me as a student athlete I would like to thank them for everything”
Director of West Coast Soccer Troy Dayak has been full of pride “ I have been watching Rachel play since she was 9 years old I can remember thinking to myself years ago that Rachel would be a great attacking outside back, this past year when we formed team Kryptonite I had the luxury of moving Rachel to that position, it is nice to see that that vision has also captured the eye of a Div 1 College Coach as Rachel has been recruited as an outside attacking back” “We are so very proud of Rachel and her wonderful parents Jeff and Christine Leonard and we look forward to Rachel setting the standard for future West Coast Soccer players to come!”
Rachel’s Father Jeff Leonard had this to say: “The message I have shared with Rachel forever is to play soccer because you love it, and let the college side of things take care of itself. I think there is a natural filtertration process from which the right opportunity will present itself. This process will not only include her abilities as a player, but also the schools location, her educational pursuits, the school's size and academic prerequisites etc. At the end of the day, she and many other West Coast Soccer players can play in college, at some level, if they are simply honest with themselves. Fortunately for Rachel, and with much help from West Coast Soccer, and all of the coaches she has played for throughout the years that opportunity will be at the Division 1 level at Sacramento State as she concurrently begins to pursue her professional dreams of becoming a nurse". “The Leonard Family would like to thank WCS for all their effort!”
Katie Poynter West Coast Soccer Recruiting Director says: “it is simply amazing that West Coast has earned such great respect in the College soccer community in only one short year in existence! WCS has had multiple offers at different colleges from all over the country. As a former Division 1 college coach this type of recognition takes years to establish West Coast has done an outstanding job networking with college coaches and the results prove what a great job the program is doing for its players parents and soccer community”
Congratulations!! Sydney Schultz for making the PDP Regional Team & Melissa Ellis, Kamryn Lipman & Sydni Lunt State Teams.

West Coast Soccer Shines in Vegas!
Two teams representing West Coast Soccer Club, the U15 Katz and the U16 Kryptonite were accepted into the prestigious Las Vegas Players College Showcase and departed last Thursday to take part in the largest college recruiting tournament in the country. WCS Director Troy Dayak said "the amount of college coaches there to recruit at the U16 age group was very impressive, and it was very important for me and our West Coast College recruiting officer, Katie Poynter, to be face to face with coaches from across the country to discuss our older players and their future collegiate opportunities". The college coaches that signed into our West Coast Soccer college book on game day and came to watch us play reconfirmed that West Coast Soccer is doing the right things to attract attention to our players and club. We are excited about the offers our players are receiving from across the US. The West Coast Katz finished pool play with 3 wins which took them to the semifinal game undefeated and unscored upon. The WCS Katz was the only team from Northern California to finish first in their bracket and move onto the Semi Finals. In the semi-final game, they were tied 0-0 in regulation play and ended up losing in penalty kicks 4-3 against the eventual Showcase Champions. They made a huge impact at the tournament and we are extremely excited to showcase them next year in Las Vegas. A summary of the u16 Kryptonite follows:"

College Night was a success!!
West Coast Soccer had its second college night and it was a huge success. The library was packed full of eager players and parents ready to learn all of the important information needed about the next steps on what to do to earn scholarships to play at their desired school. Our DOC Troy Dayak and Former Sacramento State Womens Coach Katie Poynter did an excellent job walking the players through insiteful details on what college coaches look for in a player. Academically and Atheltically. We plan to continue our educational college prep classes so stay tuned for the next meeting.
WCS Girls will Travel to Arizona for State ODP:
Looking to build momentum in the 2012, West Coast Soccer is on the mark. Three West Coast Soccer 98’ gals head to Arizona following a recent recruitment request by the Olympic Development Program. Megan Amick, Melissa Ellis, and Sydni Lunt share the earned honor of representing their state on the field. The three will participate in five days of intense and enhanced trainings taught by highly-recognized coaches. During this time, the girls will enjoy the opportunity of playing competitive soccer with some of the most talented soccer girls in the region. These high exposure games are designed to refine these players’ unique skills. We congratulate these girls on their great success and wish them well on their journey to the championship games. "I am very proud of these young ladies. There dedication and love of the game has paid off. I wish them the best of luck!", says the clubs DOC, Troy Dayak.
